Amanda Henderson
Amanda Henderson
I'm a first year MPA student at CofC. I'm passionate about people, learning, and making the most of life. I enjoyed working on this project because of the connections I was able to make and the communities I was able to become involved in through doing research. I hope that the video will help the LGBTQ+ community feel like their voices are heard and validated.
Ren
Ren Jones
I am a first, well technically first and a half, year MFA student at CofC. While my main degree focus is Creative Writing, I am also pursuing an emphasis in Arts Management. As a Rocky Horror fanatic, I understand family, however whacky that may be, is what you make it. Exploring the history of Treehouse Night Club has been a journey in understanding how important it is for everyone to have a sense of belonging. I hope everyone, gay, straight, or alien, is able to find a place as full of love and acceptance as the Treehouse.

I am currently in pursuit of an MFA in creative writing at College of Charleston. Over the past few years, I have learned that family does not necessarily mean those with whom you share DNA. Family is chosen — and sacred. For this reason, I have been really interested in the family that was formed at the Treehouse. I hope that we are able to convey some of the community and haven that was found at the Treehouse.
Melanie
Melanie Seidel
My name is Melanie Seidel and I am an international student at the College of Charleston. I moved from Germany to Charleston in March 2017 in order to pursue my masters degree. I am currently enrolled in the MPA program at the College of Charleston. I have chosen a concentration on arts management because I have worked in arts education and arts management for about six years in Germany. Currently, I am working as a graduate assistant at the Office of Research and Grants Administration at the College of Charleston and I have just finished an internship at the Charleston Gaillard Center.

Currently a Graduate Student in College of Charleston's Arts Management program, I am working to cultivate my career in non-profit arts work. As a member of Charleston's queer community, this project is near to my heart. I am so excited to highlight Charleston's vibrant LGBTQ+ community and promote Charleston Pride through this body of work.
